Participating in competitions is a great experience and a lot of fun, but it can be a bit overwhelming too. It’s not all fun music and beautiful outfits; all the logistics – the boring stuff – needs to be taken care of before you or your skater take center ice. Remember, if you have problems with any of the pre-performance tasks, or just have questions, talk to your/your child’s coach. They’ve done it all a hundred times already! Fellow skaters and skating parents can be a good resource as well.

If your child needs to miss school for a competition, as a USFSA member, you can request an official school absence letter from U.S. Figure Skating to give to your child’s school. Be aware that this request does require you to login to USFSA.
