Five figure skaters in their competition dresses posing with their medals in front of a podium

It usually takes about half an hour after the completion of an event for the results of that event to be posted. For events using IJS, each skater is given a numerical score which determines their placement. For 6.0 events, the result sheet shows both the final position of each skater as well as the position each judge gave the skater. So the skater whose final position is 1 comes in first, 2 comes in second, etc.

Usually the top 3 skaters (sometimes top 4) in each event will receive a medal with the rest of the skaters receiving a ribbon. The award ceremonies for skaters receiving a medal are held periodically throughout the day. The competition announcement should include details as to how and where these ceremonies will take place. Clubs will often take official pictures during these ceremonies so if the skater earned a medal, they should keep their skates and competition outfit on for the pictures.
